Otherwise, I'll take your word for it. I love Mackinac Island, Lake of the Clouds in Porcupine Mountains, Whitefish Point, and any town in the Keweenaw Peninsula.

Here's more history about Tony's Restaurant. They have been in Birch Run for decades and were the main trucker's eating place in competition with another truck stop on the opposite side of I-75. For a few years, Tony's Restaurant had a location in Flint on Fenton Road, just north of Atherton Road. It was there for about 10-12 years then, like a lot of other Flint businesses, it closes for lack of business. They served the same huge portions as their location in Birch Run. It is a standing joke about the pound of bacon with every meal ordered and anyone traveling I-75 between Flint and the Straits, knows about Tony's. You haven't lived until you eaten at least one meal at Tony's...its an experience that shouldn't be missed.Karen Hhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13732638672537005826noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4493137999097550682.post-80189552982396263812013-01-07T22:20:44.358-06:002013-01-07T22:20:44.358-06:00Thanks for all of the comments! Michigan is indeed a jewel of a state, with natural settings to please everyone, quaint towns with cool shops, and as I pointed out, many choices for dining!

Since I love swimming in the great lakes, Michigan beaches are a favorite destination. Especially the ones up in the UP, where you can swim in the always icy-cold Lake Superior. Must be because my Dad was a Scotsman. He used to say swimming in the North Sea was the coldest water he'd ever felt...and totally enjoyable. That's how I feel about Superior!Fiona McGierhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13495707848048468428noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4493137999097550682.post-79424434285431169072013-01-07T06:59:16.865-06:002013-01-07T06:59:16.865-06:00Love this post. I've spent many happy hours on the beaches of Lake Michigan. My favorite spot in Michigan is the church camp I attended from the time I was 12. It's located in Grayling Michigan & is a nature lovers paradise. The last 3 weeks of the summer, they offer their camp to families & I've taken my nieces & nephews more than once to enjoy an all inclusive vacation filled with all the activities I enjoyed as a kid. Space for the family camps is limited, so they usually sell out within the first day or so, but if you want a carefree vacation for your whole family, I can't recommend it enough. www.campausable.org

drainbamaged.gyzmo at gmail.comAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07564123676711805131noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4493137999097550682.post-82455796759086247302013-01-06T14:39:57.612-06:002013-01-06T14:39:57.612-06:00I wouldn't mind visiting the upper peninsula--...I wouldn't mind visiting the upper peninsula--Jim Harrison country.
